My history

You might be interested in how I came to be a freelance copywriter. You might not. I’m going to tell you anyway.

I’ve always worked and lived in Yorkshire. At college, I studied A-levels in Business along with Biology, French and German. As you can tell, I didn’t have a clear idea of which way my career would go. I loved the sciences, I adored languages, but as my time at college progressed, my main interest became Business and particularly the Marketing and Advertising modules. I was pretty good at them too. Accounting wasn’t so interesting for me. Like most copywriters, I’m a words person and less of a numbers person.

As I came to the end of my time at college, the clear choice for my university course was marketing. In order to gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of the business world, I took Business and Marketing in the first year, focussing in on the Advertising in my second and third years. I gained a 2:1 degree with honours in 2006.

Since university, I have worked in marketing and specifically brand management on established, worldwide brands in both the Food and Pharmaceutical industries.

My first love is copywriting. I relish the freedom it gives you and the way it allows you to express yourself better than anyone can verbally. I love the impact words can have on people.

I have written copy for brochures, leaflets, shelf barkers, posters, press ads, press releases, websites, newsletters, e-shots, direct mail and internal blogs.

I can do corporate, I can do branded and consumer focussed. I can write to an internal audience and I can produce copy for a worldwide audience

I have a history with languages, and of working within export departments and I have the experience that allows me to target your copy to any target market.
